This invention relates to a seal for a cylindrical alkaline cell (80). The member includes a metal support (40) having an annular spring (45) disposed at the outer periphery. The spring is placed under compression by a radial crimp and the spring is adapted to expand and contract whereby the seal is maintained during thermal cycling. The member also includes a plastic grommet (30) having an annular vent designed to open at very high pressures whereby said seal member is particularly useful in alkaline cells having little or no mercury whereby high internal pressures can develop.
La présente invention a pour objet un joint d'étanchéité pour pile alcaline (80). Le joint d'étanchéité en question comporte un support en métal (40) doté d'un ressort annulaire (45) disposé à la périphérie de celui-ci. Le ressort est mis en place par compression au moyen d'une serre radiale, et il est conçu de façon à suivre les mouvements de dilatation et de compression tout en assurant l'étanchéité du joint durant le cycle thermique. Le joint d'étanchéité en question comporte également un oeillet en plastique (30) doté d'un évent annulaire assurant l'évacuation des gaz en cas de formation de très hautes pressions, d'où la grande utilité du joint d'étanchéité en question dans les piles alcalines contenant peu ou pas de mercure, celles-ci étant sujettes à la formation de fortes pressions internes.
