A method of cutting potatoes (98) for seed while preventing the spread of pathogens. Wherein a seed potato (98) is sorted and positioned between upper and lower conveyor belts, (46) and (48). This configuration of the upper and lower conveyor belts, (46) and (48), works to firmly grasp the potato (98) and feed the potato (98) through high pressure vertical and horizontal water streams, (100) and (102) cutting the potato for its eventual use as seed. The use of high pressure vertical and horizontal water streams, (100) and (102) prevents the spread of disease and pathogens during cutting as is commonly found when a knife is used to cut seed potatoes.

L'invention concerne un procédé de tranchage de pommes de terre de semence (98) qui permet également d'éviter que des agents pathogènes ne se répandent, une pomme de terre de semence (98) étant triée et placée entre des bandes transporteuses supérieure (46) et inférieure (48). Cette configuration de bandes transporteuses supérieure (46) et inférieure (48) permet de saisir fermement la pomme de terre (98) et de faire passer la pomme de terre (98) à travers des jets d'eau vertical (100) et horizontal (102) à haute pression, de trancher la pomme de terre pour son éventuelle utilisation en tant que semence. L'utilisation de jets d'eau vertical (100) et horizontal (102) à haute pression permet d'éviter qu'une maladie ou que des pathogènes ne se répandent pendant le tranchage comme c'est souvent le cas lorsqu'on utilise un couteau pour trancher les pommes de terre de semence.
