The invention provides high purity alkoxytrimethylsilane fluids of the general formula ROSiMe3 wherein Me is methyl and R is a monovalent aliphatic hydrocarbon substituent which ranges from 14 to about 20 carbons, the fluid being substantially free of organic and inorganic contaminants, wherein the alkoxytrimethylsilanes are produced by a novel process, and can be readily incorporated into cosmetic formulations containing organic components without heating and provided improved sensory characteristics compared to those provided by the corresponding alcohols.

Cette invention se rapporte à des fluides d'alcoxytriméthylsilanes de grande pureté, représentés par la formule générale ROSiMe¿3?, où Me représente méthyle et R représente un substituant hydrocarbure aliphatique monovalent contenant de 14 à environ 20 atomes de carbone, un tel fluide étant sensiblement exempt de contaminants organiques et inorganiques. Ces alcoxytriméthylsilanes sont produits par un nouveau procédé et ils peuvent facilement être incorporés dans des formulations cosmétiques contenant des constituants organiques, sans qu'il faille les chauffer, et ils produisent des caractéristiques organoleptiques supérieures à celles produites par les alcools correspondants.
