ABSTRACT High-quality coloring carbon black having a specific surface area (SBET), an area average diameter (Da) and a pore volume (AVHg) which make both the roughness factor (RF) and aggregate factor (AF) as calculated by the following equations, negative values: RF = SBET - 28710/(Da) + 1450 AF = AVHg + 14 x (Da) - 290 where SBET is the specific surface area (m2/g) of the carbon black as measured by a BET nitrogen absorption method, Da is the area average diameter (mµm) of the carbon black as measured by an electron microscopic measuring method, and AVHg is the pore volume (cc/100g) of the carbon black as measured by a mercury porosimeter, provided Da is at most 17mµm.
