12 HIGH R SUPER INSULATION PANEL ABSTRACT An insulation panel (10) comprises a mineral fiber board (12) having a density between 8 and 28 pounds per square foot (0.128 and 0.449 gm/cc), the fibers having no organic binder thereon, and between 5 and 40 percent by weight of particulate material (16) packed in the interstices of the board, and a gas-tight envelope (14) encapsulating the board (12), the envelope (14) being evacuated to a vacuum between 10-4 Torr and 10 Torr.
