C-4361 G-7,993 HIGH RETENTION SEAT BACK Abstract of the Disclosure A high retention seat assembly has a seat cushion unit and a back rest unit which Imoves rearwardly relative to the seat cushion unit when subjected to severe loading by the occupant during a rear collision. A collapsible retention means connected with the seat cushion unit and back rest unit is tensioned or pulled taut either in response to rearward movement of the back rest unit or by other means to prevent undue rearward deflection of the back rest unit during such a rear collision.
