An electrical connector comprising a frame, at least one first connector module and at least one different second connector module. The frame has at least one connector module receiving area adapted to receive a plurality of connector modules. The frame comprises a first array of connector module locating features and a different second array of connector module locating features. The first connector module is located in the at least one receiving area. The first connector module has a housing and electrical contacts. The first connector module comprises a mating first array of positioning features interlocked with at least a portion of the first array of locating features in the frame. The different second connector module is located in the at least one receiving area. The second connector module has a housing and electrical contacts. The second connector module comprises a mating different second array of positioning features interlocked with at least a portion of the second array of locating features in the frame.
