A B S T R A C T A high speed feeder for carton blanks being fed into a cartoner includes both mechanical and fluid flow environments for precisely delivering carton blanks. A preferably inclined conveyor has an upper run which receives generally vertically oriented blanks stacked on their edges. Blanks are fed one at a time from the stack at the down- stream end of the upper run. A pressure roller is pro- vided adjacent and upstream of the feed zone so as to over- lie the upper run and to engage with the upper edges of the blanks. The pressure roller holds back most of the upstream blanks while permitting only a few blanks to pass by. This structure relieves the pressure from the weight of the up- stream blanks on the few downstream blanks.
