ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A bus system in which signal lines are imple- mented as conductive traces on a printed circuit board backplane. The traces couple to successive ones of a plurality of functional units. Each of the functional units includes a receiver having positive and negative input terminals. There are first and second signal traces configured so that each of the first and second signal tra- ces couples to successive ones of the receiver means at alternating polarity inputs. The systematic imbalances between the positive and negative input terminals of the ports are evened out between the signal traces.
