A high speed manufacturing system for processing articles of manufacture requiring processes to be performed on the articles at a pre-selected processing rate includes a trunk (4) for simultaneously conveying a plurality of the articles of manufacture at the pre-selected processing rate in a first mode of motion from the beginning of the manufacturing system to the end of the system. At least one branch processing station (6, 14, 16) is positioned intermediate the beginning and the end of the trunk wherein the branch processing station during its operation performs at least one process on articles of manufacture conveyed on the branch processing station and where the articles are conveyed in a second mode of motion. At least one transfer device (86) is positioned intermediate the trunk and the branch processing station to continuously extract articles of manufacture from the trunk and transition the movement of the extracted articles of manufacture from the first mode of motion to the second mode of motion for transfer to the branch processing station. The transfer device also extracts each of the processed articles of manufacture from the branch processing station and transitions the movement of the articles from the second mode of motion to the first mode of motion for transfer to the trunk.

La présente invention concerne un système de fabrication grande vitesse destiné au traitement d'articles manufacturés nécessitant que ces articles subissent des traitements selon des vitesses de traitement définies. Ce système comporte un tronc commun permettant de transporter simultanément une pluralité d'articles manufacturés en respectant une vitesse de traitement correspondant à un premier mode de déplacement depuis le début du système de fabrication jusqu'à la fin de ce système. L'un au moins des postes de traitement du segment est situé entre le début et la fin du tronc commun, le poste de traitement du segment exécutant pendant son fonctionnement au moins un traitement sur les articles manufacturés transportés sur le poste de traitement de segment, les articles étant alors transportés selon un second mode de déplacement. L'un au moins des dispositifs de transfert est disposé entre le tronc commun et le poste de traitement du segment de façon à extraire du tronc commun en continu des articles manufacturés et à convertir du premier au second mode de déplacement le mouvement des articles manufacturés extraits en vue du transfert sur le poste de traitement de segment. Le dispositif de transfert extrait également du poste de traitement de segment chacun des articles manufacturés traités et convertit du second au premier mode de déplacement le mouvement des articles en vue de leur transfert sur le tronc commun.
