A milling cutter (10) using a wedge (55) to secure an insert (45) within a pocket (50) of the milling cutter wherein the wedge is tapered in both the axial direction and the radial direction. A screw (120) urges the wedge (55) within a tapered cavity (60) to press the insert (45) within the pocket (50) along the axial wedge angle .alpha. while rotation of the cutter (10) creates centrifugal forces urging the wedge (55) radially outward, thereby forcing the wedge (55) against the radial wedge surface to further compress the insert (45) within the pocket (50). The insert pocket (50) may be extended to radially encompass the insert (45), thereby providing additional support against centrifugal forces for the insert (45).
La présente invention concerne une fraise (10) utilisant une cale (55) afin de fixer une arête de coupe (45) dans un magasin (50) da la fraiseuse. Dans cette fraise, la cale est biseautée à la fois dans des directions axiale et radiale. Une vis (120) force la cale (55), dans une cavité biseautée (60) afin de presser l'arête de coupe (45) dans le magasin (50) selon l'angle de cale axial .alpha..
