Hydrogen propelled vehicles and fundamentally new magnesium-based hydrogen storage alloy materials which for the first time make it feasible and practical to use solid state storage and delivery of hydrogen to power internal combustion engine or fuel cell vehicles. These exceptional alloys have remarkable hydrogen storage capacity of well over 6 weight % coupled with extraordinary absorption kinetics such that the alloy powder absorbs 80 % of its total capacity within 2 minutes at 300 ~C.

L'invention concerne des véhicules propulsés par hydrogène et de tout nouveaux matériaux pour alliages de stockage d'hydrogène à base de magnésium qui permettent pour la première fois et de manière pratique aussi, d'utiliser le stockage à l'état solide et la diffusion d'hydrogène, utilisés pour fournir de l'énergie à un moteur à combustion interne ou à une pile à combustible de véhicules. Ces alliages exceptionnels possèdent une remarquable capacité de stockage, nettement supérieure au 6 % de poids, ainsi que des pouvoirs d'absorption d'énergie cinétique extraordinaires, tels que la poudre de l'alliage absorbe 80 % de sa capacité totale en 2 minutes, à 300 ·C.
