A high-strength, damage-resistant rail characterized by essentially consists of 0.60 to 0.85 wt% of C, 0.1 to 1.0 wt% of Si, 0.5 to 1.5 wt% of Mn, not more than 0.035 wt% of P, not more than 0.040 wt% of S, and not more than 0.05 wt% of A~, a balance being Fe and indispensable impurity. The rail comprises corner and head side portions having a Brinell hardness HB of 341 to 405 and a head top portion having a hardness which is not more than 0.9 of the Brinell hardness of the corner and head side portions.

Rail haute résistance difficile à endommager composé essentiellement de 0,60 à 0,85 % en poids de C, 0,1 à 1,0 % de Si, 0,5 à 1,5 % en poids de Mn, de pas plus de 0,035 % en poids de P, de pas de 0,040 % en poids de S, et de pas de 0,05 % en poids de Al, le reste étant du Fe et des impuretés indispensables. Le rail comprend un champignon ayant des coins et des parties latérales dont le nombre de dureté Brinell est de 341 à 405 HB et une partie supérieure du champignon dont le nombre de dureté ne dépasse pas 0,9 du nombre de dureté des coins et des parties latérales du champignon.
