HIGH STRENGTH DUCTILE STEEL ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The yield strength of aging nitrogenized low carbon cold rolled steel is raised to a level in the vicinity of 80,000 psi by rapidly heating the steel to a temperature in the range of 1319°F. to 1400°F. for a period of 3-60 seconds, quenching, prestraining at least 2%, and finally aging.
