Abstract of the Disclosure A high strength hot rolled steel sheet having excellent flash butt weldability consisting of 0.04-0.15% of C, 0.5-2.3% of Mn, at most 0.5% of Si and 0.5-2.3% of Mn+Si, 0.05-0.15% of P, 0.005-0.100% of A? and the remainder being Fe and incidental impurities and S content being reduced to at most 0.010%. The properties of such a steel sheet are improved by adding at least one of Ti, Nb and V or at least one of Ca and REM, or a combination of at least one of Ti, Nb and V with at least one of Ca and REM in the defined amounts.
