Disclosed herein are a high temperature combustion catalyst which comprises a stainless support containing 7 to 13 % in weight of aluminum, and catalyst material loaded on the stainless support, and a high temperature combustion catalyst which comprises a stainless support containing 7 to 13 % in weight of aluminum and 0.01 to 2 % in weight of one or more metals selected from molybdenum, tungsten and niobium, and catalyst material loaded on the stainless support. Even the above high temperature combustion catalyst containing only the aluminum possesses a higher temperature resistance than that of a conventional one, and this resistance is further improved by the aluminum and the molybdenum or the like of this invention which form a protection film having a sufficient thickness on the surface of the metal support for protecting the metal support to obtain a longer life.
