9D RG 13895 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A solid state heat control for high temperature applications, as in an electric range, using a solid state switching device to control current through a resistance load. A zero crossing circuit is used to control switch-on of the device to minimize RFI. Power to the resistance load is controlled by a time ratio circuit comprised of a solid sate D/A ramp generator compared with a user selected voltage level. A temperature monitor circuit is included to reduce the "on" time of the switching device in the presence of high ambient temperatures by backing down the user selected voltage setting in an over-ride manner.
