A method for the treatment of sulfide ores containing silver by pressure oxidation (108). The method includes the addition of a sulfate-binding material (106) to reduce the formation of jarosite species during pressure oxidation (108). Silver can then be recovered from the solids portion of the discharge slurry (109). A jarosite reduction step, such as by a lime boil, that is typically required to recover silver after pressure oxidation (108) can be eliminated.

L'invention concerne un procédé de traitement de minerais sulfurés contenant de l'argent, par oxydation sous pression. Ce procédé consiste à ajouter un matériau se liant au sulfate destiné à réduire la formation d'espèces de jarosite au cours de l'oxydation sous pression. L'argent peut ensuite être récupéré à partir des parties solides de la boue d'évacuation. La présente invention permet de ne pas avoir recours à l'étape de réduction de jarosite, mise en oeuvre par bouillonnement de chaux par exemple, généralement nécessaire à la récupération de l'argent après une oxydation sous pression.
