The present application discloses a progressive cavity motor or pump component, either stator or rotor, which provides a high glass transition temperature polymeric surface on the component which becomes resilient at or below the expected operating tempera-ture of the motor or pump, but which re-mains solid at ambient temperatures, along with a method of fabricating either a stator or a rotor with such surface char-acteristics. Since the surface becomes resilient, the progressive cavity pump op-erates efficiently at temperatures above the glass transition temperature of the se-lected polymeric surface.

La présente invention porte sur un composant de moteur ou de pompe à cavité progressive, soit un stator, soit un rotor, qui fournit une surface polymère à température de transition vitreuse élevée sur le composant, laquelle surface devient élastique à la température de fonctionnement attendue du moteur ou de la pompe, ou au-dessous de celle-ci, mais reste solide aux températures ambiantes, et sur un procédé de fabrication soit d'un stator, soit d'un rotor, avec de telles caractéristiques de surface. Etant donné que la surface devient élastique, la pompe à cavité progressive fonctionne de façon efficace à des températures au-dessus de la température de transition vitreuse de la surface polymère sélectionnée.
