ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: High temperature resistant catalyst shaped bodies and process for their production. Catalyst shaped bodies consisting of catalyst uniformly distributed in an inorganic shaped body or of a catalyst anchored on the surface, are produced from a flowable moulding composition consisting of a) an oxide mixture with contents of amorphous SiO2 and aluminium oxide and/or, b) electrostatic filter ash from high temperature coal power stations and/or, c) calcined ground bauxite, as reactable finely divided components and an alkali silicate solution as well as optionally finely divided fillers by casting in a mould or by pressing or preferably by extruding, and hardening of the moulding composition at temperatures of 50 to 95°C. A removal of water at 100 to 550°C is possible as well as a firing at temperatures up to 1,550°C.
