ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In the case of a high-voltage converter with R-C wired thyristors in series and electronic assemblies associated with the thyristors for the purpose of producing firing pulses for the thyristors, using energy coupled out of the R-C wiring, and high-tension break-over diodes in emergency firing circuits for the thyristors, a switching element is provided which, after a number of consecutive emergency firings, bypasses the high-tension break-over diodes wholly or partly.
