A high througtput method is provided for identifying agents capable of producing a desired biological response in whole cells. The method includes the steps of providing receptacles having a culture surface; placing different mixtures of single agents into selective ones of the receptacles according to a statistical design; and immobilizing the mixtures of single agents to the culture surface. The method further includes contacting the immobilized agents with the whole cells; and acquiring data which is indicative of a desired biological response in the contacted cells. The method also includes using statistical modeling of the acquired data to determine which mixtures of single agents and/or which single agents in these mixtures are affective in producing the desired biological response in the contacted cells.

Cette invention concerne un procédé à haut rendement permettant d'identifier des agents capables de générer une réponse biologique désirée dans des cellules entières. Ce procédé comprend les étapes consistant: à utiliser des réceptacles comprenant une surface de culture; à placer différents mélanges d'agents simples dans des récipients sélectifs conformément à une conception statistique; et à immobiliser les mélanges d'agents simples sur la surface de culture. Ce procédé consiste également à mettre les agents immobilisés en contact avec les cellules entières et à obtenir des données qui indiquent l'occurrence d'une réponse biologique désirée dans les cellules mises en contact. Le procédé consiste en outre à utiliser une modélisation statistique des données obtenues pour déterminer quels sont les mélanges d'agents simples et/ou les agents simples de ces mélanges qui génèrent efficacement la réponse biologique désirée dans les cellules mises en contact.
