ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A high electron beam transmissive shadow mask is disclosed for a color television picture tube. The strength of the shadow mask is improved in that the generally conic cross-section apertures provided in the perimeter portions of the shadow mask are non-symmetric relative to the central axis of the shadow mask. The generally conic apertures have circular openings on the electron beam exit and entrance sides of the shadow mask and the central axis of the exit side opening is radially offset outwardly with respect to the central axis of the beam entrance side openings.
