HIGH VELOCITY MSFB PROCESS Abstract A high-velocity, multisolid fluidized bed pro- cess utilizes a reactor (1) having a reduced-cross-sec- tional area (6) in a lower region wherein large bed particles (4) are fluidized and/or entrained by high- velocity, fluidizing gas (2). If they are entrained by the gas, they are lifted to the enlarged-cross-section, upper region (7) wherein the reduced velocity fluidizing gas now either fluidizes the particles and/or allows them to drop back to the reduced-cross-section zone. Meanwhile, the fluidizing gas entrains fine bed particles (5) at high velocity through the reactor. The fine particles are recycled out the top of the reactor and back into the reactor in the reduced-cross-section zone.
