La viscosité de cette micro-émulsion est augmentée par addition d'un agent tensio-actif secondaire possédant une partie lipophile à chaîne longue et une partie chargée hydrophile apte à réagir avec la partie hydrophile de l'agent tensio-actif de base. D'un point de vue pratique, il est tout d'abord procédé à la formation de la micro- émulsion en l'absence d'agent tensio-actif secondaire puis à l'addition de celui-ci.
