48 AV 00106 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE DC power at a first voltage level in a first line is transformed into DC power at a second voltage level in a second line. An inverter having its DC terminals connected between the first line and the second line conducts the current from the first line to the second line. This inverter also converts a portion of the DC power in the first line into AC power. A rectifier having its DC terminals connected between the system return and the second line is driven by the AC power provided by the inverter. The turns ratios of the transformers associated with the inverter and the rectifier establishes the voltage level at the second line as well as the current to be supplied to the second line by the rectifier.
