A variable speed wind turbine having a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG), includes an exciter machine mechanically coupled to the DFIG and a power converter placed between a rotor of the DFIG and the exciter machine. Thus, the power converter is not directly connected to the grid avoiding the introduction of undesired harmonic distortion and achieving a better power quality fed into the utility grid. Moreover, the variable speed wind turbine includes a power control and a pitch regulation.

L'invention concerne une éolienne à vitesse variable qui comprend un générateur à double résonance (DFIG). Cette éolienne comprend une machine d'excitation couplée mécaniquement au DFIG et un convertisseur de puissance positionné entre un rotor du DFIG et la machine d'excitation. Ainsi, le convertisseur de puissance n'est pas directement connecté au réseau électrique, ce qui permet d'éviter l'introduction d'une distorsion harmonique non désirée et d'obtenir une meilleure qualité de puissance introduite dans le réseau électrique.
