The high voltage disconnecting switch control has a motor coupled to a gear system for driving an arm of a disconnect switch. A control system is operatively connected to the motor and a cam switch, and has a plurality of speeds for moving the disconnect switch. Using a digital logic arrangement of the control system, arcing is prevented or reduced.
