Disclosed is a high voltage inverter for converting DC power to AC power with one or more AC output phases. The inverter has for each AC output phase an AC input phase circuit comprising first and second cold cathode field emission controllable electron tubes of triode, tetrode or pentode structure. Each electron tube has a first input node for connection to a high voltage DC potential in excess of 20KV and a second input node for connection to ground. First electron tube is serially connected between a first end of a primary winding and ground, and second electron tube is serially connected between a second end of the primary winding and ground. Control circuitry controls the electron tubes so that the first and second electron tubes alternatively conduct so as to alternately bring the first and then second end of the primary winding approximately to the potential of ground.
L'invention porte sur un onduleur haute tension pour convertir une puissance en courant continu en une puissance en courant alternatif avec une ou plusieurs phases de sortie en courant alternatif. L'onduleur a, pour chaque phase de sortie en courant alternatif, un circuit de phase d'entrée en courant alternatif comprenant des premier et second tubes électroniques à émission par effet de champ réglables, à cathode froide de structure triode, tétrode ou pentode pouvant être commandés. Chaque tube électronique a un premier nud d'entrée pour une connexion à un potentiel en courant continu haute tension supérieur à 20 KV et un second nud d'entrée pour une connexion à la masse. Un premier tube électronique est connecté en série entre une première extrémité d'un enroulement primaire et la masse, et un second tube d'électrons est connecté en série entre une seconde extrémité de l'enroulement primaire et la masse. Des éléments de circuit de commande commandent les tubes électroniques, de telle sorte que les premier et second tubes électroniques conduisent de façon alternée, de façon à amener en alternance la première puis la seconde extrémité de l'enroulement primaire approximativement au potentiel de la masse.
