The invention relates to active material for the negative electrode of secondary rechargeable lithium batteries, wherein the active material is based on doped or undoped carbon-bearing lithium titanium ramsdellite oxide with general formula Li2Ti3O7 or Li2.28Ti3.43O8. The active material comprises a carbon substituted ramsdellite phase having a general formula L i2 -4c C c-T i3O7, with 0.1 < c < 0.5, and more than 0.1 mol% of spinel phase having a general formula L i1+xTi2-x O4 with 0 < x < 0.33.

L'invention porte sur un matériau actif pour l'électrode négative de batteries au lithium rechargeables secondaires, le matériau actif étant à base d'oxyde ramsdellite de lithium-titane contenant du carbone dopé ou non dopé de formule générale Li2Ti3O7 ou Li2,28Ti3,43O8. Le matériau actif comprend une phase ramsdellite substitué par carbone présentant une formule générale Li2-4cCcTi3O7, avec 0,1 < c < 0,5, et plus de 0,1 % molaire de phase spinelle présentant une formule générale Li1+xTi2-xO4 avec 0 < x < 0,33.
