The present invention relates to an electrical power transmission system particularly suitable for underground transmission at high voltages. The electrical power transmission system 10 comprises electrical power transmission means comprising at least one electrical power cable 12, a pipe 11 for installing said cable comprising an interior cavity 21, said electrical cable being accommodated inside said cavity of said pipe and extending along said pipe, and grounding conductor means 15. Said grounding conductor means 15 are independent of said electrical power transmission means.
