A lighter than air tethered Dirigible operated by Yarder winches is herein shown as a vehicle for harvesting wood from forests superior to any logging vehicle or method in present use. This is demonstrated as being the sole low cost system capable of remaining free from damaging the sensitive ecology of the tree root systems in the forest floor, and as such capable of the profitable extraction of older slow growing trees leaving room for the vital young ones to grow. This at one third the cost of helicopters performing similar function.
