Composite compositions containing, as the major components, fine hydratable microfibril fibers obtained from cellulose or derivatives thereof and a solid capable of swelling with water, wherein at least part of the surface of the solid is coated with the fine microfibril fibers, and a process for producing the same. The solid capable of swelling with water is exemplified by particulate polymer absorbents to which short fibers have been added as the third component. These composite absorbents may be located on supporting sheets made of, for example, a nonwoven fabric to give composite absorbent sheets applicable to various absorbent products including diapers for infants and adults.
La présente invention concerne des compositions composites dont le composant majeur est une fibre microfibrille hydratable issue de la cellulose ou de certains de ses composés. La composition comporte également un solide capable de se gorger d'eau. En l'occurrence, la surface du solide est revêtue, au moins partiellement, de fines fibres microfibrilles. L'invention concerne également un procédé d'élaboration de cette composition. Selon l'invention, le solide capable de se gorger d'eau est un polymère particulaire absorbant auquel on a ajouté, en troisième composant, des fibres courtes. Ces composites absorbants peuvent garnir des feuilles supports, telles que du textile non tissé, ce qui donne des feuilles d'absorbants composites pouvant s'appliquer sur divers types de produits, y compris les couches culottes pour enfants et adultes.
