The instant invention is directed to the preparation of a slurry catalyst composition. The slurry catalyst composition is prepared in a series of steps, involving mixing a Group VIB metal oxide and aqueous ammonia to form an aqueous mixture and sulfiding the mixture to form a slurry. The slurry is then promoted with a Group VIII metal. Subsequent steps involve mixing the slurry with a hydrocarbon oil, and combining the resulting mixture with hydrogen gas (under conditions which maintain the water in a liquid phase) to produce the active slurry catalyst.

L'invention concerne la préparation d'une composition de catalyseur en suspension. Ladite composition de catalyseur en suspension est préparée au moyen d'une série d'étapes impliquant: le mélange d'un oxyde métallique du groupe VIB avec de l'ammoniac aqueux afin de former un mélange aqueux et de sulfurer ledit mélange afin de former une suspension. Ladite suspension est ensuite stimulée à l'aide d'un métal de groupe VIII. Les étapes suivantes impliquent le mélange de la suspension avec une huile hydrocarbure, et la combinaison du mélange résultant avec un gaz hydrogène (dans des conditions qui permettent de maintenir l'eau en phase liquide) afin de produire le catalyseur en suspension actif.
