The invention relates to aqueous dispersions containing microfine metal oxide particles and a dispersant. Said dispersions are characterised in that at least one of the compounds of general formula (I) is used as the dispersant, in which formula: M represents hydrogen, a monovalent or bivalent metal cation, an ammonium ion, or an organic amine group; a represents 1, or if M is a bivalent metal cation = 1/2; X likewise represents -OMa or -O-(CpH2p0)q - R1, where R1 = H, an aliphatic hydrocarbon group with 1 - 20 C atoms, a cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon group with between 5 and 8 C-atoms, an optionally substituted aryl group with between 6 and 14 C-atoms, p = 2 to 4, q = 0 to 100, -NHR2 and/or -NR22, where R2 = R1 or -CO-NH2; Y represents O, NR2; A1 represents an ethylene group, propylene group, iso-propylene group or butylene group; m represents 10 to 30; n represents 0 to 40; k represents 10 to 30, whereby the sum m + k lies between 20 and 60, preferably between 20 and 40.

Ces dispersions sont caractérisées en ce que l'agent dispersant utilisé est un des composés de formules générales (I), dans lesquelles M représente hydrogène, un cation métallique monovalent ou bivalent, un ion ammonium, un radical amine organique, a vaut 1 ou, si M est un cation métallique bivalent, ? X représente -OM¿a? ou -O- (C¿p?H¿2p?O) ¿q? - R?1¿ avec R?1¿ = H, un radical hydrocarbure aliphatique à 1-20 atomes de C, un radical hydrocarbure cycloaliphatique à 5-8 atomes de C, un radical alkyle éventuellement substitué à 6-14 atomes de C, p = 2 à 4, q = 0 à 100, -NHR?2¿ et/ou -NR?2¿¿2? avec R?2¿ = R?1¿ ou -CO-NH¿2? Y représente O, NR?2¿ A?1¿ représente un radical éthylène, propylène, iso-propylène, butylène, m vaut de 10 à 30, n vaut de 0 à 50, k vaut de 10 à 30, la somme m + k étant située entre 20 et 60, de préférence entre 20 et 40.
