ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved method is disclosed for the production of storage stable aqueous dispersions of highly cross-linked polyurethane which is fast to light. The dispersions are prepared from the reaction product of polyester containing terminal hydroxyl groups with diisocyanate in specific proportions in inert solvent, then reaction of NCO group present with primary or secondary diamine or diol to form an adduct, followed by reaction of more NCO groups with an aqueous solution of a sodium salt of a monobasic aminoacid and removal of the inert solvent, the improvement being the use of branched polyesters and 3-isocyanatomethyl-3,5,5-trimethyl- cyclohexylisocyanate as the diisocyanate.
