Methods and compositions for treating humans suffering from, or preventing a human from suffering, a physiological or psychiatric disease, disorder, or a condition where inhibiting reuptake of norepinephrine is a benefit are disclosed. The compositions comprise a compound having a pharmacological selectivity of serotonin (K i)/norepinephrine (K i) of at least about 5000. Examples of such compounds include reboxetine, and more preferably optically pure (S,S) enantiomer of reboxetine. The methods generally include administration of a therapeutic amount of such compositions. Also disclosed are preparations of a medicament from the composition, and uses of the composition in a manufacture of the medicament to treat a human suffering from, or preventing a human from suffering, a physiological or psychiatric disease, disorder, or condition.
L'invention concerne des méthodes et des compositions de traitement de sujets humains, ou de prévention d'un sujet humain souffrant d'une maladie, d'un trouble ou d'un état psychologique ou psychiatrique où l'inhibition du recaptage de la noradrénaline constitue un avantage. Les compositions contiennent un composé ayant une sélectivité pharmacologique de la sérotonine (Ki) (adénaline Ki) d'au moins environ 5000. On peut citer à titre d'exemples de ces composés la reboxétine, et de préférence un énantiomère optiquement pur (S, S) de reboxétine. Les méthodes consistent, d'une manière générale, en l'administration d'une dose thérapeutique de ces compositions. L'invention concerne également des préparations d'un médicament à partir de la composition, ainsi que les utilisations de la composition dans la production du médicament de traitement ou de prévention d'un sujet humain souffrant d'une maladie, d'un trouble ou d'un état psychologique ou psychiatrique.
