An adjustable hinge has two plates connected by a series of knuckles, at least two on one plate and one on the other. The spacing between adjacent knuckles on one plate is greater than the length of the intervening knuckle on the other plate so that the knuckle may be moved along the hinge pin joining the knuckles. To effect this movement, the adjustable knuckle and the hinge pin are threaded. To provide adequate strength to the hinge, the pin and the non-adjustable hinge plate knuckles have two sets of axially facing support surfaces so as to distribute the hinge load over a sufficient area. Lateral loads on the threading may be limited through the use of cylindrical pin and knuckle sections.
