A hinge device to connect at least one end of a handle or grip (2) element and a purse or similar piece of luggage through a ring (5) that joins the side (1) of the bag, a grommet (4) in which it can rotate freely. The device is characterized by the fact that the linking ring (5) is initially open and has a fastening that can be closed afterwards made up of a detachable hinge shaft (6) that can be freely inserted beforehand in a corresponding sleeve (7) and can be pulled back and fixed inside the grommet (4) so its free ends (6a, 6b) line up with the corresponding ends of the open ring (5) after the ring has been placed over the side (1) of the bag around the grommet (4).
