A hinge structure is provided for a folding ROPS usable with an off-road vehicle such as a front mount mower. The hinge structure is comprised of a pair of identical hinge elements that are respectively fixed within the hollow interior portions of the upper and lower tubular frame members of the ROPS and pivotally joined together for swinging movement. The assembled hinge structure is sized to have an exterior surface configuration that is substantially the same as or smaller than the exterior wall surface of the tubular frame members. With the substantially clean exterior hinge structure profile, the vehicle and its folded ROPS is able to operate beneath low hanging shrubbery and/or orchard branches where protruding hinge latch handles and/or levers might otherwise present problems.
