A device that is especially of use as a cigarette disposal receptacle or ashtray comprises a container, support for the container such as by a back-plate, and a horizontal hinge joining the container to the support such that the container is rotatable about that horizontal hinge so as to facilitate dumping contents out of the container. The back-plate has one or more holes through it of use in applying fastening means through it and into a support member, and at least one of those holes is accessible by rotating the container forwardly about the horizontal hinge.
