The Hip Protector mitigates the risk of injury to the hip socket joints for certain groups of people. The hip socket area is a prominent joint that is prone to impact injury in certain sports, namely hockey but also volleyball and potentially other sports. Also, individuals with unsteady walking, and/or weakened bone density, namely the elderly but potentially other groups, may want to mitigate the risk of hip injury. For these groups, injury to this joint can be very painful, and can even result in serious long term disability. The risk of injury to the hip socket area, including top femur area, and corresponding disability can be mitigated when the Hip Protector product is used. Advanced models of the Hip Protector can provide additional protection for the coccyx, more commonly known as the 'tailbone', also located in the pelvic area. This is also an extremely painful injury related to falls with elderly people, especially females. Advanced models will even included total pelvic protection, mainly for elderly people.
