The present invention relates to a histidine kinase, two-component gene (CaHK1) from Candida albicans. CaHK1 encodes a 2471 amino acid protein with an estimated molecular mass of 281.8 kDa. Also provided are vectors, host cells, antibodies and recombinant methods for producing the same. The invention further relates to agonists and antagonists and to screening methods for identifying agonists and antagonists of CaHK1 polypeptide activity. The invention additionally relates to diagnostic methods for detecting CaHK1 nucleic acids, polypeptides, and antibodies in a biological sample. The present invention further relates to novel antagonists and vaccines for the prevention or attenuation of infection by Candida albicans.

La présente invention concerne une histidine kinase ainsi qu'un gène à deux composantes (CaHK1) issu du Candida albicans. CaHK1 code une protéine renfermant 2471 acides aminés et présentant une masse moléculaire évaluée à 281,8 kDa. L'invention traite également de vecteurs, cellules hôtes, anticorps et procédés de recombinaison permettant de produire ces substances. L'invention traite, en outre, d'agonistes et antagonistes et de procédés de criblage permettant d'identifier des agonistes et antagonistes de l'activité du polypeptide CaHK1; de procédés de diagnostic permettant de déceler dans un échantillon biologique des polypeptides, des acides nucléiques CaHK1 et des anticorps; de nouveaux antagonistes et vaccins permettant de prévenir ou atténuer l'infection par le Candida albicans.
