ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Nitrocellulose strips having recombinant HIV envelope glycoprotein, HIV gp160, spotted and fixed thereon are useful for the detection of antibody to AIDS virus (HIV). A dye, such as coomassie bluer non- covalently attached to the glycoprotein and to the strip is usefully associated with the glycoprotein to identify the location of the glycoprotein spotted and fixed to the strip.
