ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A checking dummy for use in hockey training. The dummy comprises a base with a framework extending outwardly from adjacent the edges of the base to simulate a crouched skater. Padding encases the framework. There are blades attached to the underside of the base so that the dummy can be pushed at a required speed on ice. The dummy permits training in hockey checking without risk of injury to the trainee.
