The present invention relates to a hog sorter which sorts hogs by classifying whether a hog is overweight or underweight. An overweight hog is considered to be ready for the market and an underweight hog is considered to be not ready for the market. The hog sorter weighs the hog and allows the hog to back up into the respective section for shipping or feeding. The backing up is controlled by a backing up gate actuated by the weigh pan. A front entrance gate closes as the hog enters being actuated by a pan to prevent a second hog entering. A urging member in the entrance urging the hog through speeding up the sorting process.
