HOLD DOWN DEVICE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An electrolytic cell which comprises an anode section and a cathode section supported by said anode section is provided with a plurality of hold down devices which serve to maintain the anode and cathode sections in liquid-tight relationship. The hold down devices positioned on the outer periphery of the cell sections are designed to withstand lateral stresses occasioned by the thermal cycling of the dissimilar parts of the cell without slipping or turning. - 1 -
