A holder (1) for a conventional high intensity focused ultrasound (HlFU) probe (3) to be interfaced with a stepper (24) atop a conventional tripod (5), or the like, to enable a physician/surgeon to image and visually inspect the rectal and prostate areas of a patient for signs of cancer and other abnormalities so that a treatment plan can be outlined and implemented. The probe holder (1) includes a base (30), a pair of wall members (36, 38) detachably connected to one another at the front end of the base, and a pair of stand members (56, 58) detachably connected to one another at the rear end of the base. A first opening (54) is formed between the pair of wall members (38, 38) to enclose and reliably support the proximal end of the probe (3). A second opening (78) is formed between the pair of stand members (56, 58) to enclose and reliably support the distal end of the probe (3). A continuous cable passageway (34, 66) is established at the rear end of the base (30) to permit the power cable (14) to the probe to rotate freely in the event that the probe (3) is correspondingly rotated relative to the base (30).
La présente invention concerne un support (1) pour une sonde à ultrasons focalisés de haute intensité (HIFU) classique (3) devant faire l'interface avec un moteur pas à pas (24) au-dessus d'un tripode classique (5), ou analogue, pour permettre qu'un médecin/chirurgien forme l'image et inspecte visuellement les zones rectale et prostatique d'un patient à la recherche de signes d'un cancer et d'autres anomalies de sorte qu'un plan de traitement peut être ébauché et mis en AEuvre. Ledit support (1) comprend une base (30), une paire d'éléments de paroi (36, 38) raccordés de manière détachable l'un à l'autre au niveau de l'extrémité avant de la base, et une paire d'éléments montants (56, 58) raccordés de manière détachable l'un à l'autre au niveau de l'extrémité arrière de la base. Une première ouverture (54) est formée entre la paire d'éléments de paroi (38, 38) pour contenir et soutenir de manière fiable l'extrémité proximale de la sonde (3). Une seconde ouverture (78) est formée entre la paire d'éléments montants (56, 58) pour contenir et soutenir de manière fiable l'extrémité distale de la sonde (3). Un passage de câble continu (34, 66) est établi à l'extrémité arrière de la base (30) pour permettre que le câble d'alimentation (14) vers la sonde tourne librement au cas où la sonde (3) tournerait de manière correspondante par rapport à la base (30).
