A holder (20) for refilling an ink jet printhead (11), comprising a bottom part (21) in which the printhead may be seated (11) and at least one cover (23) fulcrum-mounted on an upper edge of the bottom part (21) for rotation about the latter. The cover (23) provides sliding support for a sliding member (60) bearing a short tube (31). When the cover (23) is rotated and closed on the bottom part (21), one end (33) of the tube (31) is brought into contact, without forcing it, with a sealing element (65) which seals a refill hole (18) in the head. Subsequently a cartridge (34) for refilling of the head is pushed against another end (32) of the tube (31), resulting both in the tube (31) perforating the cartridge (34) and also expelling the sealing element (65) from the refill hole (18), thus allowing ink to be transferred from the cartridge (34) to the head (11) through the tube (31).
