A holder for a scouring device such as a steel woof pad which includes a base, a pair of opposed legs extending from the base and a gripping assembly positioned at an end portion of each of the opposed legs including a gripping assembly which is moveable by the consumer from a first position sufficient to secure the holder to the steel wool pad to a second position to release the steel wool pad without the user having to touch the steel wool pad during movement from the first position to the second position.
